Alexander Garden

Alexander Garden was one of the first urban public parks in Moscow. It was commissioned by Tsar Alexander the First to the architect Osip Bove after the Napoleonic Wars. The primary purpose of this development was to reconstruct parts of the city which had been destroyed by French troops. Bove laid out a new garden from 1819-1823 on the site of the riverbed of the Neglinnaya River which was channeled underground.

Kremlin Grounds

Kremlin is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil's Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west. It is the best known of the ‘kremlins’ (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.

Assumption Cathedral

The Cathedral of the Assumption is the oldest church in the Kremlin and also the most important: the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church was transferred here from Vladimir in 1326.  This is also the place where Russian Tsars were crowned. Inside the cathedral, the Patriarch's Seat and the Throne of Monomakh - carved in 1551 for Ivan the Terrible - mark the physical presences of the two sides of this historic alliance.

Archangel Cathedral

This is a burial place of Grand Princes of Moscow and first Russian Tsars. The history of the  Archangel Cathedral dates back to the 14th century. In 1333, the first Grand Prince of Muscovy Ivan Kalita (Money-bag) ordered to lay the foundation of a white-stone church devoted to St Archangel Michael, respected in Rus' as a guardian of soldiers and Russian princes in their feats of arms. In 1505-1508, a new majestic cathedral was erected on the place of the old church.

Armoury

The Armoury Chamber is a royal treasury. The museum collections are based on the precious items from the tsars' treasury and the Patriarch's vestry. The Armoury Chamber preserves ancient state regalia, ambassadorial gifts, ceremonial tsar's vestments and coronation dress, the largest collection of gold and silverware by Russian craftsmen, West European artistic silver, ceremonial weapons and arms, carriages.
